Chechen human rights activist in Switzerland transferred 200 materials on the wars in Chechnya to an archive

Chechen human rights activist Zeinap Gashaeva granted 200 video cassettes to a Swiss video archive devoted to two Chechen wars.

The archive of video documents was opened in the city of Berne on October, 26, by the Community of Protection of Oppressed Peoples.

The video archive contains 400 cassettes received from Chechen human rights activists and journalists beginning from -1990's.

Half of the archive consists of materials from human rights activist Zeinap Gashaeva.

"The goal of the archive is to maintain memory of horror of the two Chechen wars and finally call to account all those guilty of military crimes", DAPD agency quotes Zeinap Gashaeva.

According to Root-Gabi Vermot-Mangold, Head of the Swiss branch of the Community of Protection of Oppressed Peoples, location of the originals is kept in secret, "Deutsche Welle" reports.

It should be reminded that in November, 2005, Zeinap Gashaeva was awarded the Prize for freedom and human rights by the Foundation named after Lev Kopelev. The same year the Chechen human rights activist was nominated for Nobel peace prize.
