Azerbaijani MfE's officers save ten victims of earthquake in Turkey from under ruins

In the course of the emergency recovery operation, officers of the Azerbaijani Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) found under the ruins of buildings in the Turkish Province of Van bodies of thirteen deceased and ten survivors of the earthquake. This was reported by the Azerbaijani MfE.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that the earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred on October 23 in the Turkish Province of Van. On the same day, 145 Azerbaijani MfE's officers with necessary equipment left for the Turkish city of Van to help the victims of the earthquake.

Two aircrafts of the MfE delivered to the disaster area 250 tents, 3000 blankets, 700 sets of field beds, 2000 beds sets, 2 field kitchens, daily necessities, etc.

According to the MfE, on October 24, another aircraft with 46 members of the rescue team and humanitarian aid left for Turkey.

"Rescue operations are continuing in the Province of Van," the Azerbaijani MfE reported.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for the assistance.

On October 25, the Province of Van registered new shocks of earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale. The earthquake origin located at a depth of more than 7 kilometres, the RIA "Novosti" reported.

Turkey, which earlier denied international aid, issued a statement asking the international community to send tents, prefabricated houses and mobile containers suitable for housing, the BBC reports with reference to the "Anatoly", the state news agency of Turkey.
