Residents of Rostov Region are accused of slave-trading
In the Rostov Region, a grouping engaged in human trafficking and using slave labour has been stopped, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) asserts.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that suspected members of an international grouping engaged in human trafficking and using slave labour were detained in September 2010.
According to the investigators, in May 2010, two residents of the town of the Shakhty, Rostov Region, promising to provide a high-paying construction job in the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Abkhazia, recruited a 52-year-old resident of the town of Novoshakhtinsk.
Under the pretext that the employee should sign an employment agreement, the 'employers' fraudulently seized his passport. Besides, they seized all his money and personal belongings. Then, they told him that now he would have to work for these people for free, since he was simply sold.
During some period of time, the organizers used his slave labour, occasionally beat them and fed him a little. In June 2010, the worker managed to escape, the IA "Yuzhny Region" (Southern Region) reports.
