In Dagestan, about two hundred persons demand to find missing local resident

Today, the central square of the city of Buinaksk (Dagestan) hosted a rally organized by relatives and friends of Salman Abakarov, a father of six children, who disappeared on October 11. The rally was attended by about 200 persons; participants arrived from different regions of Dagestan, they demanded to intensify the search of the disappeared man.

Timur Murtazaliev, the lawyer of Salman Abakarov addressed the rally. He claimed that the action was caused by the Abakarov's disappearance.

The lawyer Ziyavudin Uvaisov urged the authorities to take all appropriate actions to search for the disappeared man and asked the rally's participants to calm down and pay no attention to provocations.

Gusein Gamzatov, Mayor of Buinaksk, came out to the protesters. He invited the initiative group of the protesters into his office for consideration of the circumstances of the case and for constructive discussions. The meeting was also attended by the heads of all law enforcement agencies of Buinaksk and the members of the National Assembly of the city.

Gusein Gamzatov stated that he and his colleagues were not interested in such incidents. "We seek a friendly atmosphere and to avoid such incidents. However, since the incident had happened, we made a decision not to interfere with this event, since people wanted to know what had happened. They want to talk to the law enforcement officials. We are ready to listen to all people," the Mayor has emphasized.

Gusein Gamzatov promised that he and the members of the National Assembly, who attend the meeting, will do everything to find the disappeared man.

Omar Omarov, Prosecutor of Buinaksk, said that on October 13 they received a petition from the wife of the disappeared man and, since that time, they conducted operational action to find Abakarov.

"At present, a criminal case has been instituted; the investigation is conducted by the Inter-District Division of the Investigatory Committee (IC) of Buinaksk District. Later, the case will be brought to the Republic's IC. We are still unable to reveal the exact place from where Abakarov has disappeared," Omar Omarov stated.

All participants of the meeting came out to the protesters. The representatives of the city authorities promised the protesters to do everything to achieve results in the search of Abakarov till the end of next week.
