In South Ossetia, presidential candidates demand to release Alan Kochiev
Today, candidates for presidency of South Ossetia send a petition addressed to Taimuraz Khugaev, the General Prosecutor of the republic, and President Eduard Kokoity, asking to change pre-trial restriction for registered presidential candidate Alan Kochiev, who is in prison now.
"We, the candidates for President of South Ossetia, appeal to you with a motion to change pre-trial restrictions for Alan Grigorievich Kochiev, the candidate for President of South Ossetia, from detention in custody to recognizance not to leave, to provide him with the equal possibility of holding the pre-election campaign in full volume," the appeal stated.
The authors of the letter believe that the Kochiev's detention in custody violates his constitutional rights as a registered candidate for President of South Ossetia.
The petition was signed by all the registered candidates: B. Kelekhsaev, V. Tskhovrebov, D. Tasoev, A. Bestaev, A. Kotaev, A. Bibilov, S. Tedety, S. Bitiev, A. Djioeva, Dj. Djigkaev, G. Kabisov, M. Chigoev, A. Pliev, I. Alborov, I. Bazzaev, and E. Gabaraev.
