Athletes from Karachay-Cherkessia become world champions in belt wrestling
Athletes from Karachay-Cherkessia have won three gold and one bronze medals in the World Championship for Wrestling on Belts, which took place on October 12-16 in Bishkek.
The winners of the World Championship are: Azamat Laipanov (68 kg), Arsen Tokov (82 kg), and Alibek Khapaev (90 kg). Kazbek Malsugenov (62 kg) won the bronze medal in the competition.
As a result of the competitions, Alibek Khapaev became a two-time World Champion; he will be awarded the title of Honoured Master of Sports of Russia. Arsen Tokov and Azamat Laipanov will be awarded the title of International Master of Sports.
Athletes are trained by Dakhir Laipanov, the chief coach of the Karachay-Cherkessian team for belt wrestling, and Islam Khapaev, Honoured Coach of the republic.
