Soldier Popov, who claimed his slavery in Dagestan, found mentally healthy

According to the results of the mental examination of Andrei Popov, the soldier from the Saratov Region, no abnormalities were detected. Andrei Popov, who claimed that he had been in captivity in Dagestan during 11 years, was sent to a military unit.

"Andrei came out of the hospital and told me that he did not give his consent to a mental examination. Then, according to him, the investigator appealed to the court asking to enforce his hospitalization and that was done," the "Interfax" quotes Lydia Sviridova, the chair of the regional Union of Soldiers' Mothers, as saying.

The medical examination revealed no abnormalities in mental health of Andrei Popov, Lydia Sviridova clarified.

In total, Andrei spent three weeks in the mental hospital. During this time, according to Lydia Sviridova, no investigatory actions were conducted with participation of the soldier. This was confirmed by Andrei himself. "I was lying in a separate ward. Doctors did not talk to me," the IA "SarInform" quotes Popov as saying.

On October 14 Andrei was transferred to a military unit. "I know that the rumours of my confession of desertion, disseminated by some media, have been refuted," Andrei has noted. According to Lydia Sviridova, now Popov can file a lawsuit against the investigator, who has sent him to the mental hospital.
