Resident of Dagestan claims kidnapping of his father and his friend

Today, Kurban Gafarov, a resident of the village of Druzhba of Kayakent District of Dagestan, was kidnapped by unidentified armed people in civilian clothes. This was reported by Ramadan Gafarov, the son of the kidnapped man. According to him, Garun Kurbanov, his father's friend, was driven away to some unknown destination together with Kurban Gafarov.

"According to eyewitnesses, they were forced into a car and then driven away to some unknown destination. We appealed to all authorities; however, no results followed," said Ramadan Gafarov in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that his father was a strict practicing Muslim and had been registered at the local OVD (Interior Division) as the follower of Wahhabism. Last year, policemen tried to initiate a criminal prosecution against Kurban Gafarov for alleged drug possession.

"Then they planted marijuana to my father and initiated a criminal case; the trial took place, where my father had been fully justified. Later, he tried to institute criminal proceedings against the policemen; however, the process got stuck at the level of complaint acceptance," stated Ramadan Gafarov.

The OVD of Kayakent District told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they knew nothing about the incident.
