Defendant, accused of murdering anti-fascist Dzhaparidze, left in custody until December
The Kuzminki District Court of Moscow extended to December the detention period of the defendant Yuri Tikhomirov, accused of murdering the anti-fascist Ilya Dzhaparidze.
Let us remind you that murder of Dzhaparidze was committed on June 28, 2009, on the eve of the football match, where the fan of the "Dynamo" FC was going to hold an anti-fascist action, posting the banner "Football against Racism". In November 2009, Yuri Tikhomirov, a 24-year-old resident of the town of Dubna, Moscow Region, was detained on suspicion of committing that crime.
"The prosecutors petitioned on the extension of Tikhomirov's detention in custody. The public prosecutors referred to Article 97 of the Criminal-Procedural Code of Russia and motivated the need for leaving the defendant in custody by their opinion that he could escape from trial and investigation, put pressure on witnesses, destroy evidences, etc.," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Alexander Vasiliev, the lawyer of Yuri Tikhomirov.
Lawyer of Tikhomirov objected, since investigators had not provided evidence that his client had opportunity to fulfil all actions indicated by the public prosecutors. Alexander Vasiliev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had filed an appeal to the Moscow City Court against lawlessness of the decision of the Kuzminki District Court of Moscow on extension of the detention period for Yuri Tikhomirov.
