Armenian high-ranking officers dismissed for soldier's death

On October 7, Seiran Oganyan, Armenian Defence Minister, signed a decree, ordering to attract the militaries, responsible for a fatal accident during a camping session at the training centre Bagramyan, Armavir District, to disciplinary responsibility.

Due to the accident that happened on October 3 in the above training centre, six regular soldiers, who drove in a car, received injuries and were placed to hospital in Armavir, where the conscript Top Sergeant Aik Davtyan died, the "NEWS.am" reports.

According to the Minister's decree, a number of senior officers, including the commander of the military unit, were dismissed, and three generals were reprimanded.

"From 2008 to the present day, by decrees of the Minister of Defence, dozens of senior militaries, including commanders of military units and generals, were punished – dismissed from their posts, reprimanded, or warned. Disciplinary penalties is part of the workflow; if not in every case press releases were issued, it does not mean that high-ranking militaries have not yet been brought to disciplinary responsibility," the "News-Armenia" quotes David Karapetyan, the press secretary of the Minister of Defence.
