Kochiev associates his resignation from the post of Parliamentary Speaker with presidential election in South Ossetia
Stanislav Kochiev, who was dismissed today from the post of Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia, has related this event with the upcoming presidential election.
"Today, they held a session of the Parliament and dismissed me from office. The Deputies from the 'Edinstvo' (Unity) and the People's Party were present; Communists were not present – they boycotted the session. In total, there were 23 MPs present; the rest of them did not appear; however, there was the necessary quorum. 19 MPs voted for my resignation (18 votes were enough), and four were against," said Kochiev to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"This was done to deprive me of the opportunity to prevent frauds at the election," said the former speaker. Currently, Kochiev is at his sick leave; and Yuri Dzitstsoity, his deputy, was appointed to be the Acting Speaker.
