Kislovodsk deputy prosecutor suspected of bribery
Today, employees of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Russia and the FSB Department for the Stavropol Territory have detained Vitaly Timofeev, First Deputy Public Prosecutor of the city of Kislovodsk red-handed with a bribe of 700,000 roubles. This was stated by the GPO's press service.
The detention was a result of joint activities of the above two agencies aimed to identify and suppress the activities of corrupt law enforcers of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). A pre-investigation check on the fact of bribe-taking is underway, the press-service has added.
"Timofeev was sacked from the prosecutor's office for breaking the oath and committing an act discrediting the honour of a prosecutor. The joint work aimed at revealing corrupt officials among law enforcers will continue," said the website of the GPO.
The position of Vitaly Timofeev or his representatives is still unknown.
