Armenia's ruling coalition refuses to resume dialogue with opposition

In Armenia, the representatives of the ruling coalition adopted a negative decision on the opposition's proposal on the possibility of resuming the dialogue. The coalition believes the continuation of dialogue with the opposition is inefficient in context of illegal action held in Freedom Square. This was reported by Gagik Melikyan, a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

Today at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time, at negotiations with the Armenian National Congress (ANC), members of the ruling coalition represented by members of the delegation started a discussion behind closed doors on possible resumption of dialogue in the format of power-opposition, which was interrupted more than a month ago. After more than two hours of discussion, the representatives of the ruling coalition announced their decision. The coalition believes the continuation of dialogue with the oppositional ANC is inefficient in context of action held in Freedom Square by the ANC, since the action is illegal, the ruling coalition representatives believe.

Regarding the question, on the basis of which law the ruling coalition came to a conclusion on the illegality of the action, Gagik Minasyan advised "to ask any lawyer."

According to information, available at 20:00 Moscow time, the ANC made no response to the decision of the coalition.
