North-Caucasian dance groups perform at "Caucasian Games"

Karachay-Cherkessia hosts the second day of the Sports and Cultural Festival "Caucasian Games". Choreographic groups of the subjects of the NCFD have presented folk dances of the nations of the Caucasus; then, a parade of sports teams took place.

The stadium "Nart", where the action takes place, is packed. The audience welcomed the delegations of athletes from the Stavropol Territory, Chechen Republic, North Ossetia-Alania, Dagestan, Republic of Ingushetia, and Karachay-Cherkessia.

The guest of the festival and local residents will enjoy the cultural programme and visit exhibitions of famous artists. Great interest was expressed to the national yards of the NCFD subjects, demonstrating national handicraft articles.

Besides, the festival includes an exhibition of achievements of manufacturers and organizations of Karachay-Cherkessia, where more than 30 companies take part. According to organizers, the exhibition will further boost the economic development of Karachay-Cherkessia, and strengthen interregional economic ties.

The Festival "Caucasian Games" was first held in 2010 in the district centre Khebez of Karachay-Cherkessia. Its programme included 14 popular national sports, which attracted over 200 athletes from all NCFD subjects. The idea of the games originates from Ingushetia and belongs to the Olympic Champion in weightlifting Israil Arsamakov.

    The Oktiabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk has dismissed Yuri Mikhailov's lawsuit for compensation for the fact that after staying in jails in Novorossiysk and in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), he was infected with HIV and hepatitis.
