Action to restrict nightclubs held in North Ossetia

In the course of the campaign "Let's Stop Lawlessness Together!" youth organizations of North Ossetia collected over 38,000 signatures to the appeal addressed to the country's and republic's leaders asking to adopt legislation to restrict operation of nightclubs in the republic.

"The main point: we want the status of nightclubs to be clearly prescribed in the legislation. They are now equated to public catering entities; however, we understand that nightlife clubs have nothing to do with them; rather they belong to places of amusement, immorality, etc. Besides, it is desirable that the legislation allowed to locally regulate the operation of such facilities," the Public Organization" Union of Youth of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania" has reported today.

They stressed there that the protesters did not ask to close the nightclubs - they just asked to control their activities. The participants of the rally, representing the "Russian Union of Youth", the "Union of Pioneering, Children's and Teenagers' Organizations" and students, raised their voices against immorality and violations of the law at nightclubs, the "Interfax" reports.

Electronic copies of the lists with signatures will be sent to the Chairman of Russian Government Vladimir Putin, Presidential Plenipotentiary in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) Alexander Khloponin and the republic's leader Taimuraz Mamsurov, the GTRK "Alania" reports.
