About a thousand attend rally in Dagestan
Today in Makhachkala, the Rhodope Boulevard housed a sanctioned rally. About a thousand residents of Dagestan came to voice their protest against the actions of the head of the Akhvakh District Ismail Magomedsharipov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the conflict situation was caused by Magomedsharipov's resolution to change the status of local lands. Under his resolution, the agricultural land plots, which had been fixed with the local cooperative, were transferred to the municipal ownership, which was strongly opposed by residents of the village of Karaty. Zubair Khalidov, the prosecutor of the Akhvakh District, sent a petition to the Botlikh District Court demanding to nullify the above resolution.
"Our patience has come to an end. Today, we've adopted a resolution, which was supported by all, stating that we now launch protest actions aimed at Magomedsharipov's dismissal from office," said Galbats Magomedsharipov, one of the organizers of the rally.
According to his story, the resolution of the rally is addressed to Russian President and Prime Minister. "Maybe al least Moscow will restrain the bureaucrat," said the source.
Magomedrasul Aliev, a participant of the rally, believes that the actions of the district head destabilize the situation in Dagestan. "The land issue is the most sensitive issue in Dagestan, where a shortage of land has been always felt. It looks like the district boss doesn't understand it; because of his behaviour, the situation in the district may get out of control at any moment; while Dagestan is in unrest without it," said Aliev.
The administration of the Akhvakh District refused to give any comments, stating that only the administration head is authorized to give comments; however, he was outside the municipality at the moment.
