The Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) associates the murder with the colonel's service activities.
"Murtuzaliev had received numerous threats from former and current prisoners, because he actively squeezed criminal elements out of the republic," the "Interfax" quotes its source from the MIA of Dagestan.
Murtuzaliev could be killed for his decisions to send criminals convicted for involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs) to colonies outside the republic. This was reported to the "Gazeta.ru" by Biyakai Magomedov, editor-in-chief of the Dagestani edition "Chernovik". "It was the FSIN, which sent the prisoners convicted under Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code to serve their terms outside Dagestan.
