In Turkey, prosecutor demands capital punishment for defendants in Hrant Dink's murder case
At the session held on September 20, the prosecutor demanded life imprisonment for the seven defendants, figuring in the murder case of the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.
"During the hearing at the Supreme Criminal Court, the prosecutor accused the defendants of an attempt to overthrow the democratic regime by force and violence. He referred to Article 309 of the Criminal Code dealing with against the Constitution, the France-Press reports.
The Prosecutor also said that the murder of the Armenian editor was the work of the members of the "Ergenekon" grouping acting in the city of Trebizond. The overwhelming majority of about 20 persons, who face trial on Dink's murder, including the direct gunman Ogun Samast, are Trebizond nationalists, the Turkish News Agency "Anatolia" reports.
