Dagestan resident complains of protracted investigation into his daughter-in-law's murder
The Investigatory Department of Dagestan is intentionally slow in investigating the criminal case of the pregnant Sapiyat Magomedova, who was shot dead in 2006 by militiamen. This was stated to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Mamatkhan Baisultanov, the father-in-law of the murdered woman, a resident of the city of Khasavyurt.
"On my own initiative, I have visited Rustam Baulov, Senior Investigator of the Investigatory Committee of Dagestan, who deals with the case since December 19, 2010. I told him that I needed a specific answer on the case, and if they failed to bring the process to its logical end, I would only have to go to the militants. With a haughty sneer, Baulov said that I might do everything that I wanted and he would behave as he wanted," said Baisultanov.
He stated that the process was interrupted for eleven times; eight investigators dealt with the case. "Recently, I came to the office of Alexei Savrulin, Chief of the Investigatory Committee of Dagestan, and I hoped the circumstances would change with his appointment. I hoped in vain, he didn't even meet me," said Baisultanov.
According to his story, the process is delayed intentionally.
"The investigators are well aware that the policemen shot dead my innocent daughter-in-law and my son Gasan. If the case is brought to the court, their guilty will be proved completely. Therefore, the investigators delay the investigation; actually, one hand washes the other," says Baisultanov.
