Ex-leader of Dagestani Diaspora shot dead in Yaroslavl

At night on September 19 Abakarkidi Magomedov, ex-Chairman of the Dagestani Diaspora in Yaroslavl, was killed in the city.

The incident occurred near a house in Dobrokhotov Passage. The body of the 37-year-old man with signs of violent death - gunshot wounds to his head and body - was found.

According to the press service of the Investigatory Committee of Yaroslavl Region, the murdered person was identified as Abakarkadi Magomedov, a native of Dagestan. Till May 2011, he used to be the Chairman of the Dagestan Diaspora in Yaroslavl.

The Investigatory Division of Zavolzhye District of Yaroslavl of the Investigatory Department of the Russian Investigatory Committee for Yaroslavl Region has initiated on this fact a criminal case on material element of offence under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), the RIA "Dagestan" reported.

According to preliminary information, the investigators revealed no national motives in the crime. The most probably version is the murder related to business activities of the deceased, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" (Russian Newspaper) reports.

Murders of the Diasporas' leaders occurred in Russia earlier. The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on April 24 the unidentified people killed Arif Shakhverdiev, the leader of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in the city of Nakhodka.

Furthermore, one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani Diaspora was killed on April 25, 2009, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
