Human rights activists report kidnapping of a resident of Gudermes district of Chechnya
On September, 2, armed and masked people wearing camouflage uniforms in the capital of Chechnya kidnapped a resident of Gudermes district of the republic and carried him away in an unknown direction, "Memorial" Human Rights Center reports.
On September, 8, Bulat Abdurahmanov, resident of the settlement of Darbankhi, Gudermes district of Chechen Republic, appealed to the human rights activists and reported that on September, 2, his brother Ruslan Abdurahmanov born in 1983 was kidnapped in Pervomaikaya street of Grozny.
According to him, when Ruslan was near house No 63 together with a friend a silvery "Lada-Priora" car without vehicle identification numbers drove up to them. "Four armed and masked people wearing civilian attire ran out of it and without any explanations seized Ruslan, forced him into the car and carried away in an unknown direction. A mobile was taken away from his friend and later thrown out", a report of HRC "Memorial" received by the "Caucasian Knot" runs.
Bulat Abdurahmanov also told the human rights activists that in 2010 his brother was sentenced by Staropromislovsky district court to 1,5 years of custody according to clause 208 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation (organizing a paramilitary group or participation in it). Before imprisonment he had been Director General of "Agora" limited company which dealt with construction of "Grozny-city" TV and Radio Center. In April, 2011, the young man was released on parole.
"Memorial" mentioned in its report that Ruslan Abdurahmanov's relatives had even no idea what could have been the reason for his abduction. "The fact that armed and masked people without vehicle identification numbers freely kidnapped my brother in the center of the town and as freely drove away makes me think that they were personnel of power-wielding structures", the kidnapped man's brother stated in his appeal to the Human Rights Center.
Members of HRC "Memorial" submitted an inquiry to Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation in Chechnya asking to "start criminal proceedings on the fact of Abdurahmanov's abduction".
As of today Ruslan Abdurahmanov's location is unknown.
