Tibet monks come to Kalmykia to attend international Buddhist forum
A group of monks from the Tibetan Monastery Gyudmed has come to Kalmykia to take part in the international forum "Buddhism: Philosophy of Non-Violence and Compassion", which will begin its work in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia, on September 22 and last till October 2.
More than a hundred of participants will gather in the temple "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni" in Elista.
"Prior to the forum, the monks from Tibet will prepare everything for the upcoming later in September broad-scale ritual ceremonies aimed at promoting spiritual development and well-being," Ngavang Lodoi, the administrator of the Khurul (Buddhist temple), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The international forum on the topic of non-violence and compassion is held on the initiative of the Shadjin Lama (Leader of the Buddhist Church of Kalmykia) Telo Tulu Rinpoche. Guests from Buryatia and Tuva, Moscow and St Petersburg, Mongolia, Thailand, India and the United States will sit at the roundtable to discuss the challenges of the modern society.
