GPO believes Natalia Estemirova's murder solved
Within the investigation into the murder of the human rights defender Natalia Estemirova, inspectors check all the versions, including involvement of power agents. They already have a suspect, as stated today by Alexei Vasilkov, Deputy Head of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), ordered to check all the possible versions of Natalya Estemirova's murder, including those put forward by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". "To be honest, I'm happy. Thus, they have at least read the report and agreed that there are other versions. This is exactly what we wanted to achieve from the investigation," Oleg Orlov, Chairman of the HRC "Memorial", made his comments.
"Currently, the investigation is ongoing. All the possible versions of the crime are examined, including involvement of the authorities. In the course of the inquiry, quite a lot of investigatory actions were conducted," said Alexei Vasilkov. "There is a suspect, he has been put on the search list; therefore, this crime can now be considered solved," the "Interfax" quotes the GPO spokesman as saying.
