In Azerbaijan, 16 persons arrested on suspicion of smuggling weapons and drugs
16 persons suspected of drug smuggling, illegal keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition, were arrested due to the operational activities conducted by the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan.
As a result of investigatory operations, citizens of Azerbaijan Eldar Gadjibaba oglu Bunyatov, Munasib Mikail oglu Ganbarov, Khafis Byoyukhan oglu Nagiev, Djavid Mamed oglu Nasirov, Vekil Zeinal oglu Mirzoev, Zaur Nukh oglu Bairamov, Maarif Famil oglu Alekberov, Parviz Ibragim oglu Akhmedov, Eldar Madat oglu Suleimanov, Orudj Veliaga oglu Gasymov, Arif Mekher oglu Abdulaliev, Zaman Iman oglu Gasanov, Gusenaga Abbasgulu oglu Guseinov, and Firangiz Mamedaga gyzy Aliev were arrested. This was reported by the Public Relation Centre of the MNS.
Narcotic drugs in various quantities and ammunition were confiscated from the detainees. According to the MNS, those persons cooperated with the citizens of Iran, whose identities are under investigation, and secretly transported narcotic drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan with a view to sell them. A criminal case has been instituted and necessary investigatory operations are being conducted, the News Agency "APA" reports.
According to the MNS, on September 3 due to the operational activities citizens of Azerbaijan Khaiiam Khanlar oglu Guseinov and Mukhammed Israil oglu Gorchuzade were arrested in the city of Gandzha. As a result of the search of the Guseinov's house, a handgun of type "Makarov" and seven bullets for it were found.
