In Kalmykia, teenager dies after fleeing from police

On August 25, Artyom Malinovskiy, 16, was brought by policemen to the narcology dispensary, tried to run away from there and perished.

According to the policemen, at night on August 25 the teenager, who would have marked his 17th birthday on September 28, was detained by the patrol-and-post unit for drinking alcohol in public places. The police unit took him for examination to the dispensary, from where Artyom managed to escape.

According to Baatr Gindeev, Minister of Internal Affairs of the RK, when trying to escape the boy ran into metal gymnastic bars and received traumas, which later caused his death. His body was found on a stair landing of one of the apartment blocks in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia.

"Based on a preliminary check, I can state that my employees are innocent," Mr Gindeev said at a briefing today. "Nevertheless, I have appointed an official examination to define how the boy could escape from policemen."
