318 signatures under a letter to President of the USA Barack Obama collected in Kalmykia

A pressure group “Hospital for the children!” collected 318 signatures as of August, 28, under a communal letter to President of the USA Barack Obama with an appeal to take the only children’s hospital in the republic under his jurisdiction.

Member of Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Chairman of Administrative board of non-governmental organization “The Child’s Right” Boris Altshuler joined the action. In particular, he sent a message to President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

“Residents of the Republic of Kalmykia driven to despair by the state of the republican children’s hospital decided to appeal to President of the USA Barack Obama for help, the letter runs. – In fact, all the national facilities used to improve the situation before have not solved the problem and children go on suffering”.

In April Rospotrebnadzor demanded to close the hospital for the reason of a great number of infringements of sanitary and hygienic standards but the court did not support the decision because of absence of another hospital. In July the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development refused allotment of additional funds on maintenance to the authorities of Kalmykia.

In connection with the appeal of residents of the republic to President of the USA Boris Altshuler also asked to enter the issue on the agenda of negotiation within the framework of bilateral Committee Medvedev – Obama.
