Ombudspersons to appear in Dagestani schools

In Dagestan, the heads of municipal education departments are encouraged to introduce in schools positions of ombudspersons in charge of defending the rights of participants of the education process. This is stated in the letter signed by Natella Musaleva, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Dagestan.

According to the letter, ombudspersons should be appointed from among school teachers and work on a voluntary basis. Their main mission is to create the legal environment in schools and develop the civil culture of the participants of the education process as a component of the integrated system of the educational-and-upbringing activities, the ministry has noted.

The new measure is recommended in the context of development of the institute of Children's Ombudspersons.

Zara Abakarova, Deputy Head of the Education department of Makhachkala, has noted that ombudspersons will appear in educational institutions of the city on a mandatory basis from September 1 this year, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

Pavel Astakhov, the Children's Ombudsman under the Russian President, has stresses that the institute of children's ombudspersons in Russia should develop rapidly.
"It is essential that every school has such specialist, who can address problems locally. Unfortunately, the Children's Ombudspersons available in the regions are not always able to cope with all problems. If they will be directly helped by their local colleagues, the process will be much more efficient," the "Yuga.Ru" quotes Mr Astakhov as saying.
