In Georgia, about 100 prisoners recommended for pardon
The Pardon Commission under the President of Georgia made recommendations for early release of about 100 prisoners.
As stated by the members of the Commission, in total they considered the cases of 230 prisoners, but release recommendations were given to about 100 of them, including 10 women and several minors. When making the decision, the Commission relied on such factors as the gravity of offences, the served term and recommendations of administrations of penal institutions.
The list of the recommended prisoners will be delivered to the President of Georgia, who will issue a respective decree on August 28.
