First special Asian expedition conquers Elbrus

In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), the first Asian special expedition has successfully climbed Mount Elbrus in honour of the Independence Day of Indonesia, reports Alisa Tarim, the head of the press service of the administration of the Elbrus District of the KBR.

"The expedition to the top peak of Europe – Mount Elbrus – was performed with participation of a climber-invalid. The event was held under the auspice of the President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The group of alpinists was lead by a sportsman-invalid Sabar. With his one leg amputated, he conquered Elbrus without problems," said Ms Tarim.

"I decided to make a climb to inspire all the people with limited capabilities to active life despite difficulties," Sabar has noted.
