Team of Yerevan in the lead at Pan-Armenian Games

As a result of the competitions held on August 14-18 at the Pan-Armenian Games-2011 the united team of Yerevan is a confidential leader with its 32 won medals, including 12 gold ones.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Ministry for Sports and Youth that the second place is kept by the team of the Uruguay capital Montevideo, the third one – by the team of Tehran.

On 14-18 August competitions were held in team sports – volleyball, basketball, football and futsal. On August 19 play-off matches began in these sports. Team events were over in table tennis, where the prize-winners were men from Shusha, Yerevan and Gyumri, and women from Yerevan, Stepanakert and Tbilisi. On August 19, individual competitions in these sports began.

Competitions were also over in swimming, where most successful were teams of Boston and Montevideo. The winners of the chess tournament were players from Yerevan; in particular, the gold medal was won by Zorak Apresyan. Women-players from Yerevan were also the winners; the first place went to Susanna Gaboyan.

As of today, the competitions are also over in badminton, where the prize-winners are: among men – Sofia, Yerevan and Yerevan; and among women – Yerevan, Kyiv and Tbilisi.
