"Gruzpatent" has adjudged brands "Khvanchkara" and "Kindzmarauli" from American company
The Georgian party has reached agreement with the American company "Dozortsev and Sons" about the return of the brands of Georgian wine "Khvanchkara" and "Kindzmarauli".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the dispute arose this February, when the National Centre of Intellectual Property "Sakpatent" found out that the brands "Khvanchkara" and "Kindzmarauli" had been registered by businessman Evgeniy Dozortsev, while the exclusive right to sale these wines in the USA belongs to his company "Dozortsev and Sons". Then, the head of the "Gruzpatent" Irakli Gvaladze said about his intention to go to court.
"We have presented all the necessary documentation to the Patent Bureau of the USA, where the litigation was underway; and the company "Dozortsev and Sons" was forced to recognize the legality of our claims," Mr Gvaladze has stressed.
The outcome of the litigation was the gratuitous refusal of the "Dozortsev and Sons" from the brand "Khvanchkara" and from extension of the registration of the brand "Kindzmarauli" to its name, having preserved the right to exclusive distribution of these wines in the USA, the "Georgia Today" reports.
