In Abkhazia, Sergey Shamba's election office denies charges of "black PR"
Sergey Shamba's election office has a statement, where the presidential candidate rejects allegations of using the so-called "black PR". This reaction followed, after another presidential candidate Alexander Ankvab accused Shamba's staff of organizing the scandalous interview with former head of the Georgian Defence Ministry.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in his interview to the newspaper "Moskovskaya Pravda" Tengiz Kitovani, ex-Minister of Defence of Georgia, said that allegedly vice president of Abkhazia Ankvab had cooperated with the authorities of Georgia in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict back in early 1990s. Mr Ankvab has categorically denied Kitovani's words, calling them "fables".
"In this case, I have counter-questions: maybe I then opened a criminal case against Alexander Ankvab? Had I published Shevardnadze's order to include Ankvab into the State Council of Georgia? Alexander Ankvab himself does not explain all these facts to the people and tries to throw off on me the publication of the interview," Sergey Shamba said on August 16 at his meeting with voters in Novy Afon.
According to Sergey Shamba's election staff, "biographies of presidential candidates should be known to citizens in detail."
The reaction of Ankvab's election office to this statement is unknown yet.
