An underage girl in Dagestan who had reported gang rape altered her evidence

A fourteen-years-old resident of Khasavyurt who formerly reported that she had undergone gang rape suddenly altered her evidence. Now she states that all the events took place by her consent, a source in the Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry (ID CI) of the Russian Federation in Dagestan reports.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that the crime was committed in September, 2010, in Khasavyurt. According to the investigation’s version, the girl was kidnapped on her way home from school. The abductors held her back three days and tortured her. Head of the Investigative Committee of Dagestan Alexey Savrulin promised that the case of rape of the underage would be referred to court by the end of June, 2011.

However, now the girl states that all the events took place by her consent. According to the source, the investigation will consider the case once again because of this change of evidence.

According to the data of ID CI, four persons accused of rape are currently under examination. Now the question of alteration of their preventive punishment will be considered.

The girl’s mother and attorney withhold comments yet.
