In Tbilisi, some refugees voluntarily leave Hotel "Abkhazia"

Today, many of the refugees, who are now being evicted from Hotel "Abkhazia" in the Georgian capital, started to voluntarily leave the hotel. At the same time, other refugees, living in the hotel, organized another protest rally in Tbilisi.

The voluntary eviction from the Tbilisi hotel was decided by those refugees, who agreed to the authorities' proposal for compensation of 10,000 US dollars per family for housing. Representatives of the authorities provide the refugees with assistance in loading their things and moving.

According to the relocating refugees, they have no other choice, because if they do not leave the hotel until August 15, they will be forced from there, the "Ekho Kavkaza" (Echo of the Caucasus) reports.

At the same time, the other refugees, living in the hotel, continue to emphatically deny the resettlement, the "Georgia Online" reports.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported, that, starting the early 90s, the refugees from the city of Tskhinvali – in total, about 700 persons – live in the Hotel "Abkhazia". Now they are evicted from the hotel due to the fact that it was purchased by a private owner.
