Dean of SFU's Department of History accused of bribery claims that he was framed

Dean of the Department of History of the Southern Federal University (SFU) is suspected of taking bribes from the applicants in the amount of 200,000 roubles, which was allegedly transferred to the account, specified by the suspected person, following the results of the applicants' two entrance exams.

At present, a criminal case was initiated against the suspected under the article "Taking bribe". He himself was detained. A preliminary investigation is being conducted into the criminal case.

Alexei Plakhuta, a former student of the Department, decided to support the teacher and sent an open letter to Igor Uznarodov, First Pro-Rector of the SFU and Valery Kuznetsov, Prosecutor of the Rostov Region.

According to Alexei Plakhuta, some of the facts of this case raise doubts: "In particular, announced amount of the bribe – 100 roubles per person – looks strange. Education on a commercial basis in the Department of History of the SFU costs 50,000 roubles. Why should you give a bribe, if you can lawfully sign a contract for provision of educational services and pay half as much?"
Open letters posted on the Internet have caused lively discussion among current and former students of the Department of History of the SFU.

The suspected dean of the Department of History himself has not commnted on the situation to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. However, on his page on a social network Nikolai Trapsh expressed his gratitude to those who support him. "I'm under investigation, and the longest term that threatens me is 10 years of imprisonment, and the process promises to be revealing," he writes and continues. "It's a classical frame with the assistance of the leadership. And I cannot write many things here, since not only friends read this page".
