In Baku, more than one hundred people suffered from heat in July
In the Azerbaijani capital, the total number of victims of heat stroke comprised 107 people, including 39 people who were hospitalized. Most of the victims suffered in the last three days of July – 59 people.
According to Sugra Bashirova, Deputy Chief Doctor of the Baku city hospital of emergency medical care, during the first three days of August the hospital received 48 calls with a diagnosis of "heat stroke". 22 people, who addressed the doctors for medical help, were hospitalized.
On August 1 Garyagdy Alekperov, a resident of Garadag District of Baku, was hospitalized with a diagnosis of "heat stroke" and died.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by representatives of the Hydro Meteorological Department of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources that in the last decade of July and early August dry hot weather prevailed in the territory of Azerbaijan. The air temperature exceeded the climatic norm by 1-2 degrees, sometimes reaching 42°C in Baku and the Absheron peninsula. The maximum temperatures were recorded in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, where stems of thermometers reached 44°C.
