In Tbilisi, five members of May 26 events convicted
In the Georgian capital, five people involved in the riots in Tbilisi on May 26, were sentenced, the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia reports.
On July 28-29 the Tbilisi City Court, after the procedural agreement, decided to punish Amiran Merebishvili, a participant of the rally, and sentence him to 4 years of imprisonment and to 5 years of conditional sentence. Alexander Bibiluri was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment (and to a five-year conditional sentence), Nikoloz Zautashvili – to 8 years of imprisonment (to 5 years of conditional sentence), Koba Kobauri – to 3 years of imprisonment (to 5 years of conditional sentence), Iliya Zivzivadze – to 2 years of imprisonment (to 5 years of conditional sentence). The investigation into the cases against Shakria Zurashvili and Ivane Chigvinadze continues, the "Georgia Today" reports.
According to the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the rally participants were accused of damaging human health and homicide. Evidences against the convicted will be presented to the Georgian public in the nearest time, the publication "Trend" reports.
