Dagestan: new protest rally demanding to open "Gimry-Chirkata" Tunnel prepared
On August 5, in the vicinity of the village of Gimry of Untsukul District next to the building of the LLC "Rushydro", the residents of the nine mountainous districts of Dagestan plan to hold a rally demanding to open the "Gimry-Chirkata" Tunnel for vehicular traffic.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was explained by Sharapudin Nurmagomedov, a resident of the village of Gimry, "they promised to open the tunnel two years ago, a year ago, and now authorities solemnly swear that the traffic along the tunnel will be started in 2012". He believes that "they want to cheat the mountainous residents again"; therefore, according to him, the local residents will gather for the rally just after the Friday prayer.
"The messengers to all mountainous districts have been sent already. Nobody prevents conducting the construction works day and night, allowing certain hours for the passage of vehicles. It's just a mockery, when thousands and thousands of mountainous residents make a huge detour, especially now, when the weather is very hot and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan has started," said Sharapudin Nurmagomedov.
