In Astrakhan, four people remain at hospitals after mass brawl on the Airborne Forces Day
At present, four victims of the mass brawl, which occurred between airborne soldiers and natives of the Caucasus on August 2, remain at the medical institutions of Astrakhan. This was reported by Oleg Svirin, Acting Chief of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the Astrakhan Region, at the special briefing on the incident.
The brawl occurred when about 10 airborne soldiers attempted to march through the market "Bolshie Isady". Aggressive behaviour of the airborne soldiers near a mosque caused indignation of traders, natives of the Caucasus republics, and the conflict escalated into a brawl with sticks and stones. At least 20 people were injured; more than 25 people were detained.
"Today, 22 people asked medical assistance, most of them are already at home: they have bruises and abrasions," said Mr Svirin.
According to him, 16 out of 22 residents of Astrakhan, who addressed medical institutions, were sent home after receiving first medical aid. Two persons out of six, who actually required hospitalization, have already left hospitals, and only four people remain in hospitals, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
According to the MIA's Department, information on casualties among the police was not reported.
