Today in the Nagorno-Karabakh, the circuit court of general jurisdiction of Syunik Region of Armenia has sentenced Manvel Azroyan to life imprisonment, finding him guilty of the murder of his four colleagues.

On November 19, 2010, in a military unit positioned in the south front line of the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh, four soldiers were killed and three others injured. The investigation revealed that the incident was caused by a violation of military discipline. The charge was filed against Manvel Azroyan, born in 1991, who confessed of the murder of his colleagues and said that he "did not understand himself how that had happened".

During the today's court session Prosecutor Bagdasaryan requested life imprisonment, claiming that Azroyan deserved a punishment. After the necessary procedures Judge Davidyan announced the court's decision, satisfying the Prosecutor' request.

The convict's parents treat the sentence as unjust and are preparing to file an appeal. Edmond Marukyan, the Azroyan's lawyer, has stressed that the defence's position coincided with that of Azroyan's family, and together they would submit an appeal statement.
