Suspected militants detained in Astrakhan was extradited to Chechnya
Salman Tepshaev and Arthur Sakaev, natives of the Naur District of Chechnya, who had been detained in Astrakhan on July 29 by the power agents, were brought to the republic.
On July 6 at the village of Levoberezhnoe of the Naur District of Chechnya unidentified persons shelled from the tubular grenade launcher the police officers of the local ROVD (District Interior Division) who were patrolling the street. As a result of shelling, two policemen were hospitalized. On July 29 two alleged militants suspected of that attack were detained in Astrakhan.
"A criminal case under Articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, stipulating responsibility for the attempt upon the lives of the law enforcement officers and illegal arms trafficking, was initiated against the detainees. The case is under investigation now, the investigators interrogate the detainees," says a power agent of Chechnya.
"Tepshaev, Sakaev and three other suspects are threatened to face long periods of imprisonment," said a law enforcement agent.
The attitude of the detainees or their representatives is not available yet.
