Memorial to victims of Circassians' genocide to be built in Anaklia
The resort dwelling settlement of Anaklia has been chosen to be the place for the memorial sacred to the victims of genocide against the Circassian people. This was reported by Papuna Davitaya, Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs. The opening of the memorial is scheduled for 2012.
"The government intends to open the memorial in May 2012, when the Circassian Diaspora will commemorate the 148th anniversary of genocide," the "Georgia Online" quotes Mr Davitaya as saying.
On September 10 a contest for memorial design will be announced, and everybody will be able to take part in it, the "Caucasus Online" quotes Mr Davitaya's speech at the press conference held on July 29.
Let us remind you that the resort place of Anaklia is located in the Georgian coast of the Black Sea, near the administrative border with Abkhazia.
