Activists of the opposition in Rostov-on-Don held a meeting within the framework of “Strategy-31”
On July, 31, a meeting within “Strategy-31” project in protection of freedom of assembly permitted by a decision of the court passed off near Gorky Park of Rostov-on-Don.
On July, 18, representatives of the opposition submitted a notification of the meeting to the Administration of Rostov-on-Don but the authorities replied that the place for the meeting had already been assigned for another action.
Then the activists filed a lawsuit to Pervomaisky district court.
One of the organizers of the meeting Vladislav Riazantsev told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the court considered the complaint in time and acknowledged the officials’ refusal to endorse the meeting unlawful.
The organizers of the meeting said that during the action in which about 50 people participated all the representatives of the opposition pointed out that the electoral legislation in force and also refusals of registering oppositional parties violated constitutional rights of millions Russian citizens and deprived them of free choice. There were also suggestions to come out on mass actions of protest on the election day, December, 4.
Actions in protection of clause 31 of the Constitution of Russia granting the citizens the right of peaceful assembly to express their opinions are held in many towns and cities of Russia on the last day of each month which has the 31st day.
