Dagestani residents block highway demanding to find gunman at mass brawl

For more than 24 hours already more than 300 people continue to block the highway in the Akhty District of Dagestan. The protesters demand to detain the local, who killed one and gave wounds to five persons in a mass brawl.

They also demand resignation of Safidin Mursalov, the head of the district.

On July 28 in the outskirts of the village of Akhty about 20 people from each party started a brawl, in which one of the fighters opened a submachine gun fire. As a result, one person was killed and five were wounded. The gunman fled the scene.

At present, hundreds of cars are not able to drive along the highway in the Akhty District of Dagestan, which is blocked by local residents. Safidin Mursalov, the head of the district, visited the picket; however, nobody listened to him. Akhmed Kuliev, an official from the MIA of Dagestan, also came there and asked to unlock the highway at least for those cars, which had been waiting for more than a day. However, the situation remains strained; the protesters demand the arrival of republic's authorities.

The protesters told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that it was not for the first time that Mursalov's supporters opened gun fire on civilians. According to their story, some time ago a three-year-old girl was wounded, but the case was hushed up.

Safidin Mursalov himself denied the fact mentioned by the protesters that the gunman was an employee of the private security agency headed by his son.

According to Safidin Mursalov's story, there are 12 detainees on the fact of the incident; however, the main figurant is in hiding.
