Today, officials of the National Security Agency (NSA) of Armenia have arrested Karen Megrabyan, born in 1980, a citizen of Armenia, who is suspected of having relations with the secret services of Azerbaijan.

"The NSA of the Republic of Armenia has irrefutable documentary materials proving the illegal activities of Karen Megrabyan: the fact of his recruitment and the further use by the secret services of Azerbaijan, operating on the territory of the Republic of Turkey. Karen Megrabyan has been kept under the NSA's observation for a long period," the NSA's statement stresses.

In particular, according to secret services' information, Karen Megrabyan "collected data on the military potential of Nagorno-Karabakh, documented information, including by video shooting, and then delivered the data to the secret services of Azerbaijan". "Karen Megrabyan tried to attract residents of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and officers of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia to the process of collecting secret information, which was interesting for the secret services of Azerbaijan," the NSA noted.

The attitude of the detained Karen Megrabyan is still unavailable.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, during the last several years 9 persons, including, apart from citizens of Armenia, also citizens of Russia and Iran, were sentenced on charges of collaboration with the secret services of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
