In Rostov Region editor of "Perekrestok" reinstated on prosecutor's office protest
Svetlana Alipova, Editor of the newspaper "Perekrestok" (Crossroad) of Belaya Kalitva District of Rostov Region, earlier dismissed by the district administration authorities, has been reinstated on the appeal of the Regional Prosecutor's Office. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the press service of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, the inspection showed that the dismissal of the local editor was illegal.
The authorities of Belaya Kalitva District claimed that Svetlana Alipova was dismissed because of financial irregularities. The editor-in-chief herself and her colleagues believe that the conflict occurred because of the district head's personal dislike of the editor.
"The decision on the editor's dismissal is illegal because it was made three months after discovery of the fault, rather than within one month, as required by the law," the press service of the Regional Prosecutor's Office explained.
Comments of the district head are still unavailable; however, earlier Oleg Kayudin, deputy head of the administration of Belaya Kalitva District on social issues, said that Svetlana Alipova was dismissed because of the economic and financial irregularities.
