Tsotne Gamsakhurdia transferred to correction establishment in Rustavi
In Georgia, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, the son of the first President of Georgia, who is serving his sentence on charges of attempting to commit a premeditated murder, was forced in the morning of July 14 from the prison in Gldani to the Rustavi prison No. 17.
As stated by Keti Bekauri, Tsotne's advocate, "at dawn, Vazha Tskhvediani, director of the 18th medical establishment, and several employees broke into Tsotne's cell and conducted a special operation." The advocate found these actions illegal, because only convicted prisoners are placed into this establishment, while consideration of the Gamsakhurdia's case at the appellate court is not yet over.
As noted by Ms Bekauri, the special unit of the Corrective Establishment No. 17 was ready to transfer Tsotne Gamsakhurdia on July 18 to the Tbilisi Court of Appeal and allow him to participate in consideration of his case, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
Earlier, the sentencing of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, scheduled for July 13, was postponed, as decided by the Tbilisi Court of Appeal, the "GHN" reports.
