Defendant in case of April explosions in Volgograd left in custody

On July 13 the Volgograd Regional Court at the preliminary session appointed the consideration of the criminal case on the explosions in this April in Volgograd near the buildings of the GIBDD (road police) Department and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on July 22. The defendant was remanded in custody till January 30, 2012.

Two explosions occurred in Volgograd on April 26: one explosive device blew up near the gates of the City Department of GIBDD, the second one – near the gym of the MIA's Academy. Nobody was injured; however, the explosions caused destruction. A charge on four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was filed to 35-year-old Mussa Yasulov, a native of Kazakhstan, resident of Astrakhan.

According to the Court, the circumstances have not changed since the arrest of Mussa Yasulov: he is a citizen of Kazakhstan, has no permanent residence in Russia, and is also accused of particularly serious crimes, the agency "Interfax-Yug" reports.

The defendant himself did not ask the court to change the pre-trial restriction. "You understand what I did, so I agree with the public prosecutor," added Mussa Yasulov.

Inna Bugaeva, the defendant's lawyer, refused to tell her position on this criminal case, saying only that her client had one attenuating circumstance – the complete contrition for his crime.

90 people were declared victims in the case on explosions in Volgograd, and 95 witnesses will be questioned during the judicial investigation. Video filming is prohibited by the request of Lyubov Frolova, Public Prosecutor, and the defendant, the portal "V1.ru" reports.
