Georgia: 50 refugees to receive free education at magistracy

The government of Georgia will finance education in magistracy in the 2011-2012 academic year for 50 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have received highest marks at exams.

Financing will cover the educational programmes in the specialties of "international relations", "international law" and "criminal law", the "News-Georgia" reports.

"Financial assistance to the IDPs in these spheres is to be rendered due to refugee status. These citizens, being direct participants of the most severe events, will be able to conduct lawsuits on the subject of conflicts and on the concerns of IDPs," states the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

According to Koka Seperteladze, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, the Faculty of Law has only 100 percent financing, but the refugees, as an exceptional case, will receive 30, 50 and 70 percent financing.

To receive financing under the social programme, applicants should present to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia their applications accompanied by respective documents not later than on October 31, 2011, the "Georgia Online" reports.
