South-Ossetian social-democrats to nominate their presidential candidate

Reporters were informed by Dmitry Tasoev, Chairman of the earlier legally liquidated Social-Democratic Party of South Ossetia, that his party will participate in elections at all levels.

The presidential election in South Ossetia will take place later in 2011. The exact date and procedure will be defined by the Central Election Commission (CEC), which was set up today.

"We will act according to the law on the presidential election. We'll convoke a congress, where candidates will be voted; then the congress delegates will vote for one of them. Subsequently, an initiative group will be set up to nominate a candidate from the Social Democratic Party," said Tasoev.

He emphasized that despite liquidation of his party in any case the organization continues acting under the Constitution, although it has no legal entity status.

"We'll take part in all elections at all levels," Mr Tasoev has assured.
